






WJJF is holding open courses for members and non-members at the World Jujitsu Headquarters, West Ryde, NSW. The course will consist of jujitsu by National Coach Alan Campbell and Escrima (stick fighting) ground work with Brazilian Jujitsu Instructor and Neil Bourne of WJJF. Each individual will receive an official certificate of attendance at the end of the course. This will be held on Sunday 20 April from 1.00pm to 5.00pm. Escrima sticks will be provided free with the course. Lunch and drinks provided. Cost of the course will be $60. Please book early as there are limited spaces due to the content of the course. Our first gradings of Junior Black Belts were held at the World Ju Jitsu Federation Australian Headquarters on 22 September 2007. A Big congratulations to all 8 students who were the first to receive the prestigious Black Belt level in Australia as follows from back left: Hayden Houssenloge, Lucas DeBono, Askhat Marwah, Tyrone Wilkinson, Laura Chinnappe, Thomas Elkington, Haydn Winton and Indy Linzbichler. Thank you to all our resident instructors for making this a special day: Michael Carozza, Andrew Noble, Andrew Blair, Gino DeBono, Alan Campbell, Matthew Pappalo and Ben Blakeman. A special thank you to Andrew Blair, Technical Director for our South Australian Academy, in assisting the examination process in Sydney to make it a smooth and memorable day for this prestigious event.

Below are some photos of the gradings held at the headquarters in March 2007 conducted by National Coach Alan Campbell. Our next gradings will be held at the Australian Headquarters on the 23rd June on Saturday from 10.30am to 1.00pm.Later in the year, in September, for the first time in Australia we will be grading our junior black belts. Amongst those that will be trying out for their black belts are Thomas Elkington, Haydn Hossenlogge, Indy Linzbicher, Laura Chinappa, Alkshat Marwah, Lucas DeBono and Tyrone Wilkinson. The mixed martial arts course was hosted by Vice President and National Coach of WJJF, Alan Campbell 8th Dan.
Other martial art instructors attending were Bruce Watts of the AJJA, Lubo Petr one of our resident instructors in NSW and a highly regarded Australian Judo player, Gino Debono a resident instructor in NSW, Roy Floro of Filipino Fighting System.
The course was a great success thanks to the support of our WJJF members and AJJA members. Over 30 students attended the course!!! The course consisted of 5 hours of intense training including Ju Jitsu, sword work, knife fighting and defences, ground work, punch fitness. At the end of the course all students were awarded a certificate which was signed by all of our esteemed Instructors. Moorong invited the World Jujitsu Federation to do a workshop with the children to assist in their rehabiliation of injuries.


2007 Lion Dance and Martial Arts Festival
The Lion Dance and Martial Arts Festival was held recently at Market City in Sydney. This was the 2nd annual event organised by the Chinese Youth League of Australia and CYL Lion and Dragon Dance. This 5-hour event promotes Chinese culture in the local and wider multicultural community of Australia. CYL is a governemnt recognised non-profit organisation with some 7 000 members. On the day more than 10 clubs with over 200 participants were involved in educating the public about the art of lion dance, dragon dance and the various forms of martial arts. The World Jujitsu Federation was asked to participate in this iniative to perform, present and interact with the public.
